On September 11th, the State Board of Education is considering the applications of 8 charter schools. These schools have already been approved by the Texas Education Agency and are waiting for final approval by the Board. If approved, they would help alleviate charter school waiting lists and give more families and students the opportunity to attend a high-quality charter school. As this mom puts it, “There are so many children in my community, and around the state, who would love and DESERVE this kind of environment but don’t have it.”

Good afternoon Mrs. Bahorich,
My name is Talitha Alexander and I'm a very proud parent of the Harmony Public Schools in Houston, Texas representing Harris County.
I understand you will be making an important decision that could possibly affect the outcome of many families and their children's future. This decision is choosing whether to approve new public charter schools in Texas. As a charter school advocate (because of the impact it has had on my family, friends and parents alike), it is very important to us that you support these new schools in their endeavor.
From the day I registered my children into Harmony, I knew it was meant for our family and would have a life-long effect. There are many reasons I chose my charter school but here is what I love about it: 1) The front office, teachers and administrators take a keen interest in showing they care. They are responsive and willing to assist at every request. 2) The students develop a relationship and become connected because they are together year after year - most, until they graduate. 3) Any issues that arise between students are nipped in the bud. It helps the students and parents know safety is not a concern. These are just to name a few.
I want you to know, my children and nephew (he's a new person since attending) are thriving at Harmony. There are so many children in my community, and around the state, who would love and DESERVE this kind of environment but don’t have it.
It is with a sincere heart I ask that you please vote “yes” on new public charter schools. You will impact the life of many students and families across the nation. We need your vote! Thank you for your time and consideration.
A passionate and proud charter school parent,
Talitha Alexander
