On Tuesday, January 26, 2016, Jubilee Academic Centers broke ground for another Athlos Leadership Academy campus in San Antonio. Parents, students, and school representatives braved cold and windy weather conditions to take part in the groundbreaking celebration at the construction site. Donning bright yellow School Choice Week scarves, students and parents exuded pride and enthusiasm for their current school and the one they will watch erect from the ground up in the upcoming months. A state of the art Athlos facility is expected to open later this year.

As my first event in my new role as a Member Services Associate at TCSA, it was definitely one to remember.

Jubilee students warmed up the crowd and showed off their moves to music by Michael Jackson. Then, they recited the student creed led by one of their peers. I heard first-hand about Jubilee’s impact on education in San Antonio and the reinvigoration of southeast San Antonio. City Councilwoman Rebecca Viagran, SBOE Member Marisa B. Perez, and Baker Harrell of It’s Time Texas spoke of Jubilee/Athlos’s achievements and what is in store for education both locally and across Texas.

TCSA looks forward to touring the new facility once it’s complete and seeing the same smiling faces I witnessed today. Congratulations to Jubilee/Athlos on your newest campus!
